FEMA Updates Federal Flood Risk Management Standard

Officials indicate that increasing and repeated flooding requires new emergency strategies.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently published a final rule implementing a new Federal Flood Risk Management Standard. This updated flood plan incorporates the latest weather data into its flood risk assessment profile, allowing FEMA to gauge the action steps necessary to support the communities most prone to flooding more accurately.

“The human and economic cost of flooding is devastating and will only grow in the years ahead as the impacts of climate change grow more intense and reach more communities,” said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “Taking forward-looking, effective steps to increase resilience before disaster strikes will save lives, property, critical infrastructure, and taxpayer money.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For FEMA Administrator Criswell to be led by the Lord as she collaborates with weather officials over flood risk management.
  • That Secretary Mayorkas would be prudent in his oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.
  • For advisors in the president’s administration as they assess ways to address climate and severe weather issues.
